What Does a Biochemist Do?

A Biochemist studies the chemical reactions that occur in living organisms. In a university setting, this work is often carried out in a research laboratory. You take part in the study of metabolism, observe how cells function, and analyze data to better understand living systems. In a laboratory specialized in plant metabolism, the Biochemist explores the mechanisms that allow plants to grow, defend themselves, and produce specific molecules. This profession combines scientific curiosity, accuracy, and experimentation, at the heart of research projects that advance knowledge.
